"GUIDING LIGHT" TO CELEBRATE ITS UNPRECEDENTED 15,000TH EPISODE, THURSDAY SEPT. 7 ON THE CBS TELEVISION NETWORK

GUIDING LIGHT will reach a milestone with its 15,000th episode on Thursday, Sept. 7, (check local listings) on the CBS Television Network. The soap, which the Guinness Book of World Records recognizes as the longest-running program in broadcast history, debuted in 1937 as the 15-minute radio serial THE GUIDING LIGHT, and made the move to television on June 30, 1952. The show was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series in 2006. GUIDING LIGHT will celebrate its 70th anniversary in January 2007. In the 15,000th episode, Reva (Emmy Award winner Kim Zimmer) goes to the Springfield lighthouse in the hopes of gaining some perspective on the life that is rapidly slipping away from her. She wishes she could change everything -- no cancer, no broken marriage, no pain or regret. But when she suffers a dangerous fall, she awakens to a changed world -- a world totally unlike the one she came from. GUIDING LIGHT is broadcast weekdays (check local listings) on the CBS Television Network and is a Procter & Gamble Production. Ellen Wheeler is Executive Producer. David Kriezman is Headwriter.
