"THE BOURNE IDENTITY," STARRING MATT DAMON, BASED ON NOVELIST ROBERT LUDLUM'S BEST-SELLING SPY THRILLER, TO BE BROADCAST SATURDAY, OCT. 21 ON THE CBS TELEVISION NETWORK

THE BOURNE IDENTITY, starring Academy Award winners Matt Damon ("Good Will Hunting") and Chris Cooper ("Adaptation") and based on novelist Robert Ludlum's best-selling spy thriller, will be broadcast Saturday, Oct. 21 (9:00-11:30 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Ludlum's novel The Bourne Identity is the first in the writer's trilogy of international thrillers featuring master spy Jason Bourne.  THE BOURNE IDENTITY begins when an amnesiac (Damon) is rescued, near death, from the ocean by the crew of an Italian fishing boat and finds himself being pursued by hired killers.  He is completely without identity or background but does possess a range of extraordinary talents in fighting, linguistics and self-defense that speak of a dangerous past.  He sets out on a desperate search, assisted by the initially rebellious Marie (Franka Potente) to discover who he really is, and why just about everyone he encounters wants him dead.

THE BOURNE IDENTITY was directed Doug Liman ("Swingers") from a screenplay by William Blake Heron, Tony Gilroy and David Self.  Liman, Patrick Crowley and Richard N. Gladstein are producers.  Frank Marshal and Robert Ludlum are executive producers for Universal Pictures.
