Kanye West Leads the Nominations With Eight, Amy Winehouse Received Six

  

Foo Fighters, Jay-Z, Timbaland, Justin Timberlake and T-Pain Received Five Nominations Each

  

Foo Fighters, Vince Gill, Herbie Hancock, Kanye West and Amy Winehouse Are Nominated for Album of the Year

  

Feist, Ledisi, Paramore, Taylor Swift and Amy Winehouse Up for Best New Artist

  

 

Nominations were announced today for THE 50TH ANNUAL GRAMMY® AWARDS, with the winners of the awards, generally recognized as the most prestigious in the recording field, to be announced during a special to be broadcast live from STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, Sunday, Feb. 10 (8:00-11:30 PM, live ET/delayed PT) on the CBS Television Network.  This year's nominations reflect one of the most diverse years ever with the Album of the Year category alone representing the country, hip-hop, jazz, pop and rock genres.

 

Kanye West tops the nominations with eight, Amy Winehouse garnered six and the Foo Fighters, Jay-Z, Timbaland, Justin Timberlake and T-Pain earned five nominations each. Akon, Dierks Bentley, Chris Daughtry, Feist, Tim McGraw, John Newton, Ne-Yo, Rihanna and Bruce Springsteen received four each.

Kanye West received eight nominations, six as an artist and two as a songwriter:  They are: Album Of The Year, Best Rap Solo Performance, Best Rap/Sung Collaboration, Best Rap Album and two each in the Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance By a Duo or Group categories.   Amy Winehouse is nominated for Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Best New Artist, Best Female Pop Vocal Performance and Best Pop Vocal Album.

Foo Fighters is nominated for Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Best Hard Rock Performance, Best Rock Song and Best Rock Album.  Jay-Z is nominated for Song of the Year, Record of the Year, Best Rap Solo Performance, Best Rap/Sung Collaboration and Best Rap Album.  Timbaland is nominated for Record of the Year, Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals, Best Dance Recording, Best Rap Song and Producer of the Year.  Justin Timberlake is nominated for Record of the Year, Best Male Pop Vocal Performance, Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals, Best Dance Recording and Best Rap Song.  T-Pain is nominated for Album of the Year, Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group, Best Rap Song and received two nominations in the Best Rap/Sung Collaboration category.
