Pop megastars One Direction will make their first visit to the LATE SHOW with DAVID LETTERMAN, Friday, Dec. 7 (11:35 PM-12:37 AM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. The band will not only perform on the broadcast, but will also sit down for an interview with Letterman.
The British quintet, consisting of members Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson, has sold more than 15 million records worldwide. Like their debut album, the certified platinum Up All Night, their sophomore effort Take Me Home debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums chart, making them the first British band to have their first and second albums debut at #1 in the United States. Take Me Home, which features the #1 single “Live While We’re Young,” entered the charts at #1 in more than 32 countries worldwide. The winners of three MTV Video Music Awards and three Teen Choice Awards, One Direction returns to the U.S. with a sold-out show at Madison Square Garden in New York City and will embark on a world tour in spring 2013, with the U.S. leg of the tour commencing in Florida in June 2013.
Also visiting the broadcast Friday, Dec. 7 is Academy Award-winning actor Dustin Hoffman, who directed the upcoming film “Quartet,” starring Billy Connolly, Dame Maggie Smith and Michael Gambon. Hoffman, like Letterman, is one of this year’s honorees at THE 35TH ANNUAL KENNEDY CENTER HONORS, which will be broadcast on CBS Wednesday, Dec. 26 (9:00-11:00 PM).
The LATE SHOW with DAVID LETTERMAN is a production of Worldwide Pants Incorporated. Barbara Gaines, Matt Roberts, Jude Brennan, Maria Pope, Eric Stangel, Justin Stangel and Rob Burnett are the executive producers.
