WBZ-TV BOSTON NEWS ANCHOR LISA HUGHES TO GUEST CO-HOST ON “THE TALK,” THURSDAY, OCT. 18

 

Lisa Hughes To Join “The Talk” Co-Hosts Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne

WBZ-TV Boston news anchor Lisa Hughes will guest co-host on THE TALK, Thursday, Oct. 18 (2:00-3:00 PM, ET), joining co-hosts Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne, Sheryl Underwood and Aisha Tyler at the table.  This will be Hughes’ second appearance as guest co-host on THE TALK, having first appeared on June 29, 2011.   Throughout the week, news anchors from five CBS Owned Stations around the country will be in Los Angeles to serve as guest co-hosts.

During the week of Oct. 15, THE TALK will feature the following guest co-hosts:

  •  Tuesday, Oct. 16: AmeliaSantaniello and Frank Vascellaro, News Anchors, WCCO-TV, Minneapolis 
  •  Wednesday,Oct. 17: Susan Barnett,NewsAnchor, KYW-TV, Philadelphia
  •  Thursday, Oct. 18: Lisa Hughes, News Anchor, WBZ-TV, Boston
  •  Friday, Oct. 19: Pat Harvey, News Anchor, KCBS-TV, Los Angeles

Emmy Award-winning journalist Lisa Hughes is anchor for WBZ-TV News weekdays at 5:00 PM and 11:00 PM with co-anchor Jonathan Elias, as well as the station’s 6:00 PM newscast with co-anchor Jack Williams.

Hughes joined the station in June 2000 after working as a correspondent for CBS Newspath, the CBS-TV Station Group’s satellite news service.

Since her arrival in Boston, Lisa has covered just about every major news event in New England, and she has had the pleasure of interviewing many of the area’s newsmakers.

Before joining CBS, Hughes worked as a reporter and weekend anchor at KIRO-TV in Seattle, beginning in 1995. She was a main anchor and reporter for KBCI-TV in Boise, Idaho from 1992-1994, and was an anchor and reporter for KCBY-TV in Coos Bay, Ore. from 1991-1992.

Among her many honors for her work in journalism, Lisa received an Emmy Award in 2008 for On-Camera Talent Reporter. In her first year with WBZ-TV, Hughes was named Best Newcomer in TV News by Boston Magazine and Best News Anchor by the Improper Bostonian.

Born in Moscow, Idaho, Hughes received a bachelor of arts in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington. She resides in the Boston area with her husband Mike and their daughter Reilly.

CBS’s daytime talk show features a panel of well-known news and entertainment personalities who examine current events, pop culture, contemporary issues, family, celebrity and the trending topics of the day. The daily one-hour series is co-hosted by Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne, Sheryl Underwood and Aisha Tyler. The hosts swap stories, challenge each other on issues and engage the studio audience and viewers at home about events in the headlines and their own homes. Show segments include guest interviews with entertainers and newsmakers, musical performances, how-to demos and appearances from extraordinary people with stories that engage and inform. The show was developed by Gilbert, who also serves as executive producer.
