KYW-TV PHILADELPHIA NEWS ANCHOR SUSAN BARNETT TO GUEST CO-HOST ON “THE TALK,” WEDNESDAY, OCT. 17

 

Susan Barnett To Join “The Talk” Co-Hosts Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne

KYW-TV Philadelphia news anchor Susan Barnett will guest co-host on THE TALK,  Wednesday, Oct. 17 (2:00-3:00 PM, ET; 1:00-2:00 PM, PT/CT), joining co-hosts Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne, Sheryl Underwood and Aisha Tyler at the table.  This will be Barnett’s second appearance as a guest co-host on THE TALK, having first appeared on July 1, 2011.   Throughout the week, news anchors from five CBS Owned Stations around the country will be in Los Angeles to serve as guest co-hosts.

During the week of Oct. 15, THE TALK will feature the following guest co-hosts:

  •  Tuesday, Oct. 16: AmeliaSantaniello and Frank Vascellaro, News Anchors, WCCO-TV, Minneapolis

  •  Thursday, Oct. 18: Lisa Hughes, News Anchor, WBZ-TV, Boston
  •  Friday, Oct. 19: Pat Harvey, News Anchor, KCBS-TV, Los Angeles

Susan Barnett is the Emmy Award-winning co-anchor with Chris May of CBS 3’s Eyewitness News at 5:00, 6:00 and 11:00 PM.  She also co-anchors Eyewitness News at 10:00 PM on The CW Philly 57 with May.

Barnett joined KYW’s newsteam in January 2006 as a morning news anchor.  In April 2008, she became co-anchor of the station’s evening newscasts.

Before coming to the Philadelphia area, Barnett co-anchored the weekday morning newscasts in Miami at CBS-owned WFOR and its sister station WBFS from October 2003 until the end of 2005.   Previously, she was co-anchor of the morning news at KDKA, the CBS Owned Station in Pittsburgh, where she had been on staff since 1999.

Along the way, Barnett’s reporting has earned her numerous awards, including a Pennsylvania Associated Press Award for an in-depth series of reports on area nursing homes statewide.  She also distinguished herself with her outstanding anchoring during Florida’s devastating hurricane seasons in 2004 and 2005.  In 2009 and 2011, she won a local Emmy Award for her anchoring of CBS 3’s live coverage of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.  And, last month she picked up another Emmy for her work on the special “Remembering 9/11: Ten Years Later.”  

Barnett and her husband, Dr. Greg Persichetti, a dermatologist and surgeon, reside in Delaware County.  They have two sons, Blase and Steele, and a daughter, Cruise.

CBS’s daytime talk show features a panel of well-known news and entertainment personalities who examine current events, pop culture, contemporary issues, family, celebrity and the trending topics of the day. The daily one-hour series is co-hosted by Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne, Sheryl Underwood and Aisha Tyler. The hosts swap stories, challenge each other on issues and engage the studio audience and viewers at home about events in the headlines and their own homes. Show segments include guest interviews with entertainers and newsmakers, musical performances, how-to demos and appearances from extraordinary people with stories that engage and inform. The show was developed by Gilbert, who also serves as executive producer.
