Actress Valerie Harper appeared on THE TALK today, Wednesday, March 13, 2013 to discuss her recent diagnosis with terminal brain cancer (2:00 PM, ET / 1:00 PM, PT/CT) on the CBS Television Network. Her appearance represented a “coming home” as Harper filmed her show “Rhoda” on Stage 16, the same sound stage currently occupied by THE TALK on the CBS Radford Lot. The hosts presented Harper with a special bronze plaque to be permanently placed on the outside of the stage in honor of her work.

Harper’s daughter Cristina Cacciotti also joined her at the table as she emotionally opened up about how they are coping. Harper said, “Don’t have the funeral until the day of the funeral. Live for today. There isn’t anything but now!”

Below are excerpts from the show:

JULIE CHEN: You have touched millions of lives with your light, your work, your career. You have a very special place here with us ladies on THE TALK… This is the sound stage where you shot “Rhoda!”

VALERIE HARPER: Yes, 16!

JULIE CHEN: To commemorate you and your show, and ensure that your spirit lives on forever, we’ve had this bronze plaque made for you. It’s going to be placed right outside our stage door so everyone who passes through will think of you and your incredible work.
