Irika Sargent To Join “The Talk” Hosts Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne

Los Angeles – WFOR-TV/CBS4 Miami news anchor Irika Sargent will guest co-host on THE TALK,  Tuesday, Oct. 21 (2:00-3:00 PM, ET), joining hosts Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne, Sheryl Underwood and Aisha Tyler for her first time at the table.  Throughout the week, news anchors from five CBS Owned Stations around the country will be in Los Angeles to serve as guest co-hosts.

During the week of Oct. 20, THE TALK will feature the following:

Monday, Oct. 20: Kristine Johnson, News Anchor, WCBS-TV, New York 

Tuesday, Oct. 21: Irika Sargent, News Anchor, WFOR-TV/CBS4, Miami

Wednesday,Oct. 22: Ukee Washington, News AnchorKYW-TV, Philadelphia

Thursday, Oct. 23: Erin Kennedy, News Anchor, WBBM-TV, Chicago

Friday, Oct. 24: Pat Harvey, News Anchor, KCBS-TV, Los Angeles

Irika Sargent is an Emmy Award-winning journalist and co-anchors CBS4 News’ weekday, early evening and 11 PM newscasts with Rick Folbaum. 

Sargent came to CBS4 from KPRC, the NBC affiliate in Houston, where she worked as an anchor and reporter for three years.

Sargent has worked at television stations in Mobile, Alabama, Columbia, Missouri and London, England.  She has covered several major stories, including the BP oil spill along the Gulf Coast, and the West, Texas plant explosion.  Also, Sargent covered numerous high-profile trials, drawing from her background as a lawyer.  Additionally, she served as the anchor of a legal show while working in Alabama.

Sargent graduated from the University of Missouri with a Bachelor of Journalism.  She earned a Juris Doctor from Cornell Law School in order to gain legal insight and expertise that could assist her in news coverage. Sargent is a current member of the New York Bar.

Sargent has been involved with a numerous charity organizations, including the American Cancer Society, Star of Hope Mission for Houston’s Homeless and Habitat for Humanity.

CBS’s THE TALK, recently nominated for five Daytime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Talk Show-Entertainment and Outstanding Talk Show Host, features a panel of well-known news and entertainment personalities who examine current events, pop culture, contemporary issues, family, celebrity and the trending topics of the day. The daily one-hour series is hosted by Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne, Aisha Tyler and Sheryl Underwood. The hosts swap stories, challenge each other on issues and engage the studio audience and viewers at home about events in the headlines and their own homes. Show segments include guest interviews with entertainers and newsmakers, musical performances, how-to demos and appearances from extraordinary people with stories that engage and inform. The show was developed by Gilbert, who also serves as executive producer.
