GAMESPOT, EA AND BUNIM/MURRAY PRODUCTIONS TEAM UP TO LAUNCH REALITY SHOW THE CONTROLLER, BASED ON BATTLEFIELD 3, HOSTED BY OLYMPIC GOLD MEDALIST JONNY MOSELEY

OCTOBER 17, 2011 -- In celebration of the upcoming and highly anticipated launch of Battlefield 3 ™, GameSpot, part of CBS Interactive, EA and Bunim/Murray Productions have teamed up to bring gamers worldwide a reality show based on Battlefield 3 called The Controller. Hosted by Olympic Gold medalist Jonny Moseley and featuring Internet sensation and action-adventure hero Freddie Wong (aka FreddieW), The Controller teams up six of the world’s most elite gamers with six amateurs for a chance to win $50,000.

 

The Controller is produced by reality show pioneers Bunim/Murray Productions, a Banijay Group company, known for MTV’s “The Real World” and “The Challenge.” The Controller airs every Friday beginning on Oct. 21, 2011 at 11:00 AM, PT on www.gamespot.com and concludes on Dec. 9, where the winning team will take home the cash prize. Throughout the show FreddieW and his co-host, Brandon Laatsch, hijack the series, directing and starring in five different segments within the show. 

 

AMD provides the show's Battlefield 3 War Room, where pro gamers will train non-gamers for eight weeks to complete gaming challenges in Battlefield 3. The pro gamers also have to complete grueling physical challenges. Pro gamers were chosen from among the best professional players of first-person shooter games. The pro gamers are Tsquared (Tom Taylor), MrsViolence (Kelly Kelley), Proofy (Jordan Cannon), Mr. X (Matt Morello), Neighbor (Mason Cobb), and Bravo (Andrew Dudynsky). The amateurs were chosen from a pool of YouTube and reality stars for their lack of video game experience, including “The Real World” cast members Ayiiia Elizarraras, Leroy Garrett and Chet Cannon.

 

The Controller is produced for EA and GameSpot by leading reality producers, Bunim/Murray Productions.
