A GEORGIA BUSINESSMAN MAKES GOOD ON HIS 12-YEAR PROMISE TO PAY FOR MORE THAN 50 LOW-INCOME STUDENTS TO GO TO COLLEGE – TONIGHT ON THE “CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY”

CBS News National Correspondent Jim Axelrod reports on a Georgia businessman who makes good on his 12-year promise to pay for more than 50 low-income students to go to college. The report will be broadcast tonight, May 24, on the CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY (6:30-7:00 PM) on the CBS Television Network.

In tonight’s report, Axelrod speaks with Tom Kelly, who raised $2 million to create the “I Have a Dream” program that sends students in Greensboro, Ga., to college. Kelly started the program in 2000 with 54 first-graders who are now graduating from high school this year. Axelrod also interviews Tyesha Dalton, one of this year's graduates, who credits the program with broadening her view of career opportunities by attending weekend study halls and out-of-town trips.

Pat Shevlin is the Executive Producer of the CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY.
