HUFFINGTON ADVISES CO-HOSTS GAYLE KING AND ERICA HILL TO “FOLLOW CERTAIN RULES THAT HELP, LIKE NOT CHARGING YOUR DEVICES NEXT TO YOUR BED,” ADDING THAT “THERE IS SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE THAT SHOWS EVEN IF YOU GO BACK TO SLEEP, IT’S NOT AS DEEPLY RECHARGING”
Arianna Huffington, President and Editor-in-Chief of The Huffington Post, discussed the importance of making sleep a priority with co-hosts Gayle King and Erica Hill, live today, June 12, 2012, on CBS THIS MORNING on the CBS Television Network (7:00 AM – 9:00 AM).
Below is an excerpt from the interview.
HILL: It seems like every other week there's something about how you need more sleep, and so we do know that. But, the reality of getting even six hours of sleep a night, for most people, it may feel impossible at times. Can you get better sleep even if it's less than that?
HUFFINGTON: First of all, it's important to prioritize it — to really make an appointment with your sleep the way you make an appointment to wake up. And to also follow certain rules that help, like not charging your devices next to your bed. How often would you wake up in the middle of the night and be tempted to look at your data? There is scientific evidence that shows even if you go back to sleep, it's not as deeply recharging.
