MUSICIAN AND GUN RIGHTS ACTIVIST TED NUGENT SPEAKS OUT IN HIS FIRST NATIONAL TELEVISION INTERVIEW SINCE MAKING CONTROVERSIAL STATEMENTS ABOUT PRESIDENT OBAMA ON “CBS THIS MORNING”
NUGENT TELLS CBS THIS MORNING SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT JEFF GLOR, “I FEEL SORRY FOR LIBERALS WHO CAN BE THAT BRAIN-DEAD AS TO TAKE A CLEAR STATEMENT OF FEAR ON MY PART AND TURN IT INTO A THREAT AGAINST SOMEBODY ELSE”
Musician and gun rights advocate Ted Nugent sat down with CBS THIS MORNING Special Correspondent Jeff Glor at his ranch in Texas for his first national television interview since making controversial statements about President Obama. Glor discussed what transpired before and after the interview with co-hosts Charlie Rose and Erica Hill, live today, May 4, 2012, on CBS THIS MORNING on the CBS Television Network (7:00 AM – 9:00 AM).
Below are excerpts from the interview.
GLOR: Tell me about that [your meeting with the Secret Service] - how serious was it?
NUGENT: I feel sorry for liberals who can be that brain-dead as to take a clear statement of fear on my part and turn it into a threat against somebody else.
GLOR: What did they say to you? How does that all take place?
NUGENT: “Hey Ted, good to meet you. Thanks for giving us the time. We appreciate you responding to our request." And I said, “I appreciate it back, because you guys are following up on your professional responsibilities, even though you're reporting to complete idiots who should probably be investigated.”

GLOR: Have you heard from the Romney campaign after these comments? And were they unhappy with you for saying that?
NUGENT: I have. I have to say what I say the way I say it. And no, they expressed support…I got the sensation — and not from Mitt himself or Mrs. Romney — stay on course, Ted, freedom of speech is a beautiful thing.
GLOR: If Mitt Romney is to win, he needs to win some of the moderate vote. You are many things, but you are not moderate.
NUGENT: I think in an honest and sincere analysis of what Ted Nugent is, I think once you take away the battle fatigues of my rock-and-roll insanity... I’m moderate.
