“CBS THIS MORNING” CO-HOSTS GAYLE KING AND ERICA HILL SIT DOWN WITH GRAMMY-AWARD WINNING SINGER STEVIE NICKS ON “CBS THIS MORNING”

NICKS ON SOBRIETY: “I’M UP THERE DOING A TWO-HOUR-AND-TEN-MINUTE SHOW RIGHT NOW AND I DON’T EVEN HAVE A DRINK BEFORE I GO ON STAGE”

NICKS ON FLEETWOOD MAC REUNION TOUR: “NEXT YEAR”

Grammy-award winning singer Stevie Nicks sat down with CBS THIS MORNING co-hosts Gayle King and Erica Hill to discuss drug use and sobriety and confirmed a 2013 Fleetwood Mac reunion tour. The interview aired today, July 11, 2012, on CBS THIS MORNING on the CBS Television Network (7:00 AM – 9:00 AM).

Below are excerpts from the interview:

KING: When you were in high school did you grow up thinking, I would like to get married and have kids and be a wife? Did you grow up thinking that? Or did you have a totally different dream?

NICKS: Once I joined the band in '68, Lindsey's band, I wanted to be a rock-and-roll star. I wanted to be a rock-and-roll singer, so I kind of chose. I really kind of made that decision not to. I went out with lots of amazing men and I had a lot of amazing relationships, but in the back of my mind, when it came down to do what I really want, that will stop me from doing what I want to do, the way I want to do it.

KING: Do you regret that decision?

NICKS: No, I don't. No.

KING: You've talked very candidly about your use of drugs back in the day. You’ve been clean for a long time. Do you feel you're just as creative?

NICKS: Absolutely. I think that we all did drugs because everybody else was doing drugs. And that's because when Lindsey and I moved to Los Angeles in 1971, we didn't have enough money to buy drugs. We hardly had enough money to buy food. And, you know, the people that we started hanging out with after we joined Fleetwood Mac were more famous and more rich than us, because we weren't even rich or famous when we first joined. So, it was being done everywhere around us.

KING: Are you still as creative without it?

NICKS: I am. I'm up there doing a two-hour-and-ten-minute show right now and I don't even have a drink before I go on stage. Sometimes I laugh and I look out and I'm swirling around. And I'm thinking, you know what? I’m totally sober and I'm having such a good time.

KING: Rumors are that Fleetwood Mac is getting back together?

NICKS: Next year, so far.

HILL: A tour next year?

NICKS: Yeah. Well, it's the plan.

HILL: So everybody's on board for 2013?

NICKS: Oh, yeah.
