TRAYVON MARTIN’S PARENTS, TRACY MARTIN AND SYBRINA FULTON, RESPOND TO GEORGE ZIMMERMAN’S RECENT COMMENTS REGARDING THE DEATH OF THEIR SON ON “CBS THIS MORNING”
FULTON TELLS CBS NEWS CHIEF WHITE HOUSE CORRESPONDENT NORAH O’DONNELL, “I HAVE A HARD TIME ACCEPTING IT BECAUSE HE ALSO SAID THAT HE DOESN’T REGRET ANYTHING HE DID THAT NIGHT. I DON’T THINK GOD WOULD HAVE HIM, IN HIS PLAN, TO MURDER AN INNOCENT CHILD”
Tracy Martin and Sybrina Fulton, the parents of Trayvon Martin, responded to the comments George Zimmerman made last night with CBS News Chief White House Correspondent Norah O’Donnell, today, July 19, 2012, on CBS THIS MORNING on the CBS Television Network (7:00 AM – 9:00 AM).
Below are excerpts from the interview:
O’DONNELL: We asked Trayvon Martin's parents for their reactions to Zimmerman's remarks that the incident was part of “God's plan.”
MARTIN: I simply really don't know what God George Zimmerman is worshipping, because there's no way that the God that I serve had in His plan for George Zimmerman to murder my son.
O’DONNELL: We also heard Mr. Zimmerman say that he prays for your family daily. He said, “I'm really sorry they buried their child. I can't imagine what that must feel like. I pray for them daily.” How does that make you feel?
FULTON: That makes me feel still sad because I just don't believe what he says. It hurts a great deal.
O'DONNELL: You don’t think his apology is sincere?
FULTON: No, I do not. I have a hard time accepting it because he also said that he doesn't regret anything that he did that night. I don't think God would have him, in His plan, to murder an innocent child.
