DAN WEINBERG NAMED SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, PROGRAMMING, CBS SPORTS NETWORK

 

 

Veteran Sports Executive to Lead Programming Efforts for CBS Sports’

Fast-Growing Cable Sports Channel

 

 

Dan Weinberg has been named Senior Vice President, Programming of CBS Sports Network, it was announced today by David Berson, Executive Vice President, CBS Sports and President, CBS Sports Network, and to whom Weinberg will report. Weinberg will lead CBS Sports Network’s programming department, working closely with CBS Sports, Showtime Sports and CBSSports.com.  Weinberg assumes his new role on Dec. 5.

 

            “Dan brings a wealth of experience with a strong track record as an innovator and deal maker,” said Berson.  “I look forward to working closely with him as we continue to grow CBS Sports Network and expand our programming.”

 

            Weinberg, who most recently served as Vice President, Licensing, Major League Baseball, comes to CBS Sports Network with 17 years of experience in the industry. While at Major League Baseball he managed licensing for all Hard Goods including trading cards, video games and novelties, oversaw corporate partnerships with approximately 200 authorized licensees in multiple product categories and managed contract negotiations.

 

Prior to Major League Baseball, Weinberg spent four years at Six Flags, where he was Vice President of Entertainment, overseeing all entertainment and licensing for the parks. He created and managed live entertainment across the park system, negotiated third party vendor contracts for major show projects, partnered with Dick Clark Productions’ music archives to create films for the park theaters and coordinated the production of several original features for the Six Flags TV network. Weinberg also managed multi-million dollar licensing partnerships with entertainment brands such as Warner Brothers, DC Comics and MTV.

 

Weinberg began his career as a production assistant at ESPN, working in various capacities during his 12 years at the company. Most recently he served as Executive Producer, ESPN Original Entertainment, where he created content to serve the company’s emerging media networks. Previously Weinberg was Coordinating Producer, ESPN Classic, where his responsibilities included overseeing more than 50 documentary-style programs.

 

Weinberg is a graduate of Cornell University (B.S. in Communication). 

 

CBS Sports Network, a division of CBS Sports, is the original 24-hour cable network dedicated to college sports. CBS Sports Network covers more than 300 live games annually, showcasing 30 men’s and women’s sports, in addition to a variety of studio shows, documentaries and original programs. The Network’s live programming is highlighted by teams from the Mountain West, Conference USA, Atlantic 10, Patriot League, the United States Naval Academy and the United States Military Academy, along with full college lacrosse, hockey and action sports events. CBS Sports Network is also the home for U.S. Service Academy football, featuring all Army and Navy home games, as well as several Air Force games every season.
