AUDIBLES WITH CBS SPORTS NETWORK COLLEGE FOOTBALL ANALYST RICH RODRIGUEZ

(On Arizona Firing Head Coach Mike Stoops)

Administrations have the right to make those decisions whenever they want to do it. My thing is, if you’re going to (make a change), if it’s inevitable, do it early. That’s the one thing I commend Arizona on. They at least did it early enough that they can start the process of finding a new coach and have a new coach in place before the recruiting season starts.

(On LSU Punter Brad Wing’s Taunting Penalty)

The rule is in place for the right reasons and you tell your players ‘You’ve got to act like you’ve been there before and you’re going to go back another time.’ Well, he hadn’t been there before.  And he’s not going back, so that’s probably why he did that. I don’t think it deserved to be called.  But they enforced the rule the way they thought it was written. That’s the problem.  It’s too subjective. One guy is going to call it, one guy won’t. You need a more egregious foul to call it in my opinion.

(On Nebraska)

They’re going to get a lot of confidence from winning that game against Ohio State. Even though Ohio State is struggling a little bit, to come back from that far down when the fans are booing and T-Magic (Taylor Martinez) is not having the greatest game, they came back in the second half and played well. Rex Burkhead had an outstanding game and now they have an open date to enjoy it and get ready for the next one.
