Nominations have been announced for THE 3RD ANNUAL LATIN GRAMMY AWARDS. Winners will be revealed on the special, to be broadcast live from the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, Wednesday, Sept. 18 (9:00-11:00 PM, live ET; delayed PT) on the CBS Television Network. ?
Nominees include Shakira, Marc Anthony, Paulina Rubio, Alejandro Sanz and LARAS Person of the Year, Vicente Fernandez. ?
Carlos Vives heads of the list of nominees with six. Other artists who received multiple nominations include: Celia Cruz (four), Miguel Bosé, Emilio Estefan, Juanes, Gian Marco and Alejandro Sanz (three each). La Ley, Dori Caymmi, Circo and Sin Bandera earned two each. ?
The creative range of the nominations is perhaps best exemplified by the Album of the Year category. Nominees in this category are: Pop star Alejandro Sanz, salsa legend Celia Cruz, the contemporary tropical sounds of Carlos Vives, the pop/rock songs of Miguel Bosé and the Brazilian pop of Ivan Lins. The geographical diversity of all nominees covers the globe -- from Spain to Argentina -- making it a truly international celebration. ?
Two new categories have been added to represent the continued growth and diversity of Latin music: Best Contemporary Tropical Album and Best Christian Album. ?
THE 3RD ANNUAL LATIN GRAMMY AWARDS will be presented in 40 key categories covering many genres and sub-genres of Latin music and will be the largest and most prestigious celebration of the creative spirit, artistic achievement and diversity found in today's Latin music. ?
