CBS SPORTS MARKS 55th YEAR OF NFL COVERAGE AS NETWORK ANNOUNCES 2014 “NFL ON CBS” BROADCAST SCHEDULE

CBS TELEVISION NETWORK AND NFL NETWORK ALSO KICK OFF INAUGURAL PARTNERSHIP YEAR OF THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL SCHEDULE

 

The CBS Television Network marks its 55th year broadcasting the NFL with some of the most marquee games on the NFL schedule including Super Bowl XLVIII rematch Denver-Seattle (9/21), Denver-New England(11/2), Indianapolis-Dallas (12/21), New England-Green Bay (11/30), Indianapolis-Pittsburgh (10/26) and Washington-San Francisco (11/23) during its 17 weeks of regular-season coverage.  In addition to the AFC package, the 106 regular-season game broadcast schedule features for the first time ever NFC games.  The regular-season schedule is followed by a post-season slate of AFC Playoff games including the AFC Championship Game on January 18, 2015.

 

This year also marks the inaugural partnership between the CBS Television Network and NFL Network in broadcasting Thursday Night Football.  The 16-game Thursday Night Football schedule kicks off on September 11 with Pittsburgh-Baltimore from M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Md. In addition to the AFC package of games, for the first time ever, THE NFL ON CBS’s broadcast schedule features NFC games highlighted by Chicago-Detroit (Thanksgiving Day, 11/27); Washington-San Francisco (11/23); Carolina-Baltimore (9/28), as well as other NFC Crossover flex games to be determined later in the season.

 

LONDON CALLING

 

In Week 4 (9/28) THE NFL ON CBS, for the sixth-of-the-past-seven years, travels across the Atlantic Ocean to cover the Miami Dolphins-Oakland Raiders clash live from Wembley Stadium in London, England.

 

THANKSGIVING DAY GAME

 

Thanksgiving Day (11/27) will feature the Chicago Bears at Detroit Lions in an NFC Crossover game.

 

► OPENING KICK-OFF

 

THE NFL ON CBS kicks off Week 1 with single-header coverage on Sunday, Sept. 7 (12:00 Noon-4:00 PM, ET) beginning with THE NFL TODAY.  Games that day include: New England vs. Miami; Cincinnati vs. Baltimore; Cleveland vs. Pittsburgh; Oakland vs. N.Y. Jets; Tennessee vs. Kansas City and Jacksonville vs. Philadelphia.

 

Jim Nantz and Phil Simms, are the lead announce team for the Network’s coverage of THE NFL ON CBS on Thursday night, along with select games on Sunday.   THE NFL TODAY, CBS Sports’ NFL pre-game, halftime and post-game studio show, begins on Sunday, Sept. 7 (12:00 Noon-1:00 PM, ET) with host James Brown, along with analysts Boomer Esiason, Bill Cowher, and newcomers Tony Gonzalez and Bart Scott.
