WORLD’S BEST PLAYERS INCLUDING DONALD, WOODS, McILROY, WESTWOOD AND DEFENDING CHAMPION SCOTT TEE UP AT “WORLD GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS: BRIDGESTONE INVITATIONAL” THIS WEEKEND, AUGUST 4-5, ON CBS SPORTS

      Defending champion Adam Scott along with Luke Donald, Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Lee Westwood, Bubba Watson and Phil Mickelson are among the world’s elite players aiming for a WORLD GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS: BRIDGESTONE INVITATIONAL title this week as CBS Sports broadcasts the third and final rounds of the star-powered tournament on Saturday, Aug. 4 and Sunday, Aug. 5 (2:00-6:00 PM, ET, both days), live from Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio.

     The World Golf Championships: Bridgestone Invitational features winners of golf tournaments from across the globe who have won events from various Tours within the International Federation of PGA Tours.  Winners from different Tours compete with members of the 2011 Presidents Cup teams and the remaining players from the Top 50 World Ranking. #2-ranked Woods has dominated the World Golf Championships with a record 16 event titles, but has not won one since the 2009 Bridgestone Invitational where he has seven victories.  Last year, Scott never trailed following any round en route to his first World Golf Championships victory with a final-round 65 and a four-stroke win over Donald and Rickie Fowler.  

     Featuring players from 18 different countries, 26 of the Top 30 in the current FedExCup standings and 49 of the Top-50 in the Official World Ranking have qualified for the field of 78 this week. The elite field includes Scott, Donald, Woods, McIlroy, Westwood, Watson, Mickelson, Fowler, Jason Dufner, Matt Kuchar, Justin Rose, Graeme McDowell, Zach Johnson, Hunter Mahan, Steve Stricker, Ernie Els, Dustin Johnson, Martin Kaymer, Louis Oosthuizen, Jason Day, Charl Schwartzel, Francesco Molinari, Brandt Snedeker, Sergio Garcia, Bo Van Pelt, Keegan Bradley, Nick Watney, Ian Poulter, Jim Furyk, K.J.     Jim Nantz, three-time Emmy Award-winner and five-time National Sportscaster of the Year, serves as anchor of CBS Sports’ golf coverage. Sir Nick Faldo, winner of six major championships and more than 40 tournaments worldwide, serves as lead analyst. Ian Baker-Finch calls the action at the 17th hole, Gary McCord at the 16th hole and Peter Kostis at the 15th hole.
