NEWS, NOTES & QUOTES FROM CBS SPORTS' "COLLEGE FOOTBALL TODAY" WITH TIM BRANDO, SPENCER TILLMAN AND TONY BARNHART AND CSTV'S "CHICK-FIL-A SEC TAILGATE" SHOW, HOSTED BY GREG AMSINGER FORMER GEORGIA ALL-AMERICAN DAVID POLLACK AND ALABAMA LEGEND BARRY KRAUSS

CBS Sports pre-game show COLLEGE FOOTBALL TODAY hosted by Tim Brando, along with analysts Spencer Tillman and Tony Barnhart prior to SEC ON CBS broadcast - LSU-Alabama.

¨ (On Pressure on Les Miles)

Spencer Tillman: Les Miles is a good coach.  We will see how they play today. If he doesn't get this win, the pressure is going to be turned up big time.

¨ (On Bill Callahan possibly being let go before the season ends)

Tillman: It would be better to keep the recruits from going by making the move now.

¨(On Nick Saban):

Barnhart: You come to one conclusion and that's that Nick Saban has earned every dime of that $4 million.  He was brought here to do one thing, and that was to bring Alabama back as a national player in college football.  What you see around here today, he's done it in less than ten months.  It's been amazing.

¨(On Ohio State in BCS):

Barnhart: Don't put Ohio State in too quick...the best time to play Ohio State is the week before they play Michigan.  They play Illinois, next week. Illinois's got a lot of athletes.  I'm telling you Illinois then Michigan...Ohio State is not in New Orleans just yet.

¨(On LSU jumping an undefeated Boston College in the CBS):

What the BCS guys I talked to who crunch the numbers tell me that if LSU is going to jump them, it's going to have to be because the humans vote them ahead of Boston College. The computers are not going Boston College will be right there.

News and Notes

?? On LSU Quarterback Ryan Perrilloux's suspension
David Pollack:
He's been suspended.  He's was out past 12:00 and nothing good happens after 12:00.  He is a dynamic runner and takes away an element of this offense.

?? On Alabama Quarterback John Parker Wilson:
Barry Krauss:
One of the things he's been able to do is actually get comfortable with this offense....It's more confidence, it's anticipating what the defense is going to do and having that confidence of moving out of the pocket, throwing the nice ball, and also standing in the pocket and being able to deliver off of that front foot, which he wasn't able to do earlier in the season.

?? Greg Amsinger: What does Darren McFadden still have to play for?
Pollack: I can give you 31 million reasons he has to play for.  The NFL is looking for this guy to maybe be the number one overall pick. He has everything that the NFL looks for in a running back.  Big, strong, fast, physical. He has it all.  He has plenty to play for, not to mention pride.

?? On Georgia's team running on the field last week after the first touchdown against Florida:
Pollack: I liked it because Coach Richt was just trying to spark some enthusiasm.  They lost 15 out of 17 to the Florida Gators and he just wanted to do something different... 50% of football is emotion, and the rest of the game the crowd was so into it, Georgia was so into it, and that's part of the reason why they won that football game.

?? On Nick Saban:
Pollack: He doesn't think about anything in life but football.  He is a one track minded guy and that's why he is so successful.

?? CSTV Football Insider Brian Curtis on Nick Saban vs. Les Miles: It is absolutely about the coaches.  I don't believe either one of them when they say there isn't a personal side to this thing.  The fact of the matter is from the day Nick Saban got hired at Alabama, this thing turned ugly.  The amazing thing was, when Saban left and LSU hired Les Miles, Saban actually left notebooks full of notes for Miles.  They talked on the phone once Saban got to the NFL.  This was a very positive relationship, Saban helping Miles.  But as soon as Saban got to Alabama, things went downhill quickly.

Amsinger: How bad has the blood been between these two programs (LSU - Alabama) once Saban took the job?
?? Curtis:
It got bad in January after Saban got hired. Now this was alleged, that Saban was talking to recruits that had orally committed to LSU.   Saban negatively recruiting against LSU, telling them the only reason LSU had been good, was because of what he and his staff had done, not because of Les Miles.

?? On Alabama Quarterback John Parker Wilson:
Krauss: This team has responded around his leadership.

?? CSTV Recruiting Analyst Tom Lemming on the latest SEC News: A big catch for the Georgia Bulldogs, they got Dontavius Jackson, one of the most underrated running backs in the country.  This guy averages close to ten yards per carry, who I believe can be an impact freshman, if he makes it grade wise.
