"THE NFL ON CBS" SCORES SUPER RATINGS AS NEW ENGLAND-INDIANAPOLIS IS HIGHEST-RATED NFL SUNDAY AFTERNOON REGULAR-SEASON GAME IN OVER 20 YEARS

Patriots-Colts Rate as Highest Regular-Season Game on Any Network Since 1987*

  

Game Rating/Share Peaks at 25.2/40

  

            CBS Sports national game of its doubleheader coverage, highlighted by the historic meeting of the undefeated New England Patriots defeating the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, Nov. 4, earned an average overnight household rating/share of 22.5/39, which was the highest-rated Sunday afternoon NFL regular-season game on any network in the metered markets since at least 1987* (*as far back as CBS's records).  The previous high for a Sunday afternoon regular- season game was a 22.2/41 (Dallas-San Francisco; 11/10/96).

  

            The New England-Indianapolis game on CBS was the highest-rated television program in 2007 in the metered markets since the Academy Awards (26.4/42) on 2/25/07.

  

The New England-Indianapolis game out-rated all four NFL Divisional playoff games last season;  +28% from a 17.6/33 (Indianapolis-Baltimore;  CBS, 1/13/07);  +30% from a 17.3/28 (Philadelphia-New Orleans;  Fox in primetime, 1/13/07); +7% from a 21.1/41(Seattle-Chicago overtime; Fox, 1/14/07);  and +2% from a 22.1/37 (New England-San Diego;  CBS, 1/14/07).  

 

The rating/share for the Patriots-Colts game peaked with a 25.2/40 between 7:00-7:30 PM, ET.

 

The Patriots-Colts ratings/share of 22.5/39 was +52% from last year's 14.8/27 (Denver-Pittsburgh, Cleveland-San Diego) in Week 9.
