NEWS, NOTES & QUOTES FROM CBS SPORTS' "COLLEGE FOOTBALL TODAY" WITH TIM BRANDO, SPENCER TILLMAN AND TONY BARNHART AND CSTV'S "CHICK-FIL-A SEC TAILGATE" SHOW, HOSTED BY GREG AMSINGER FORMER GEORGIA ALL-AMERICAN DAVID POLLACK AND GEORGIA'S MATT STINCHCOMB

CBS Sports pre-game show COLLEGE FOOTBALL TODAY hosted by Tim Brando, along with analysts Spencer Tillman and Tony Barnhart prior to SEC ON CBS broadcast - Auburn-Georgia

¨ (On Oregon overtaking LSU in the BCS, if LSU wins out)

Tony Barnhart I don't think so.  A couple reasons why.  Number one, LSU's only loss this year is on the road at Kentucky in triple overtime, and here is the other reason and it is not going to make my friend Spencer Tillman very happy.  LSU has a lot of street cred with the voters built up because they saw what Florida did to Ohio State in the big game last year and they played an SEC schedule. That's why they're going to finish ahead of the Ducks.

Spencer Tillman: Tony, my friend I love you like a brother but you and Timmy are suffering from the same malady - in love with the jersey.  Oregon is playing the best football now in America.  Continuity, they've got it big time on offense. Despite LSU's return for Early Doucet, Oregon's a better offensive unit.

¨(On an undefeated Kansas in the BCS title game):

Barnhart: There's going to be people that vote Kansas at 13-0, they're going to say "Kansas is the Big 12 Champ, they're undefeated and they should be in the big game." Other voters are going to say, "Man, there is no way that Kansas is better than LSU." At the end of the day those folks will prevail and we're going to have a big old argument.

Tillman: Kansas has the undefeated record but I have to agree with you they've got the stigma of the softer schedule.

¨(On Texas A&M):

Barnhart: Regardless what happens today, regardless what happens in the last game at Texas, this train has gone too far down the track.  We're going to see a change in College Station.

News and Notes

?? On the difference between the Auburn - Georgia game versus a Florida - Georgia game:

David Pollack:  Auburn - Georgia is the oldest rivalry in the South.  Auburn is a team you know you have to recruit against, a team you work all season to fight against.  It is a game you look forward to every year.

?? On the importance of the Kentucky - Vanderbilt game:

Stinchcomb:  Kentucky is trying to get off that two-game slide.  They want to get a shot at the bowl, it's got to be seven wins, they've got to beat Vanderbilt today. Bring some more balance to that offense we saw early in the year when Kentucky maybe could have won the conference.

Amsinger: When you look at the Auburn defense, what makes it so special? What's the secret?

?? Pollack: They put pressure on the quarterback. Will Muschamp right now is doing a great job. He comes from all different angles. He puts together plays... always confusing the offensive line. Quentin Groves at the bottom, who is an absolute stud, and Antonio Coleman inside who moves around. They confuse people.  They don't know where you're coming from, which angle. He goes through two guys. They're all tenacious guys,  they're not big guys, they're not heavy guys, they're not the most powerful guys, but they're always coming full speed 100 miles an hour. They're always keeping you off balance.

(CSTV Insider Brian Curtis with Auburn Coach Tommy Tubberville):

Curtis: Coach, as good as the SEC Conference has gotten certainly in the last five years, in my belief its dominated college football.  Do you think we are going to see an SEC team run the table in any upcoming season?

?? Tubberville:. If you can get fifth-year senior seniors on your team with experience at key position, I think you have a chance to run it all the way through in any conference. Maybe even in the SEC. But it's awfully hard. The coaches have gotten better, the players have gotten better in the last five, six years. It's just going to get tougher and tougher for us to run a table. But that's a reason in the SEC we all should shoot for a four-team play-off because we beat each other up.

(Amsinger with Verne Lundquist):

Amsinger: Is there a player in this league this year that you watch watched and said, man, he is special? Above the rest?

?? Lundquist: Yes, there are so many in this league, but because I had not been exposed to him, Knowshon Moreno. I had no idea. He's a red shirt freshman.  He started out number three on the list, the Kregg Lump gets hurt and Thomas Brown goes down. This guy now played three games in succession with just under 200 yards in each game. He's an exciting personality as well as being a terrific football player. He's the guy who opened up for me in 2007.
