PHIL SIMMS

(On New York Jets):  The Jets proved Sunday that in the NFL you should never be shocked by the outcome of any game. We see it every week, but we always say can you believe that?  My favorite thing is when people look at the schedule of a team and say this is the next four games and they should win all four.  I understand that the Patriots are definitely in a different league from all the other teams in the NFL, but the Dallas Cowboys are not in that league yet. There is no question that if they do not play a solid game they could lose to the New York Jets, and you could say that about any game with any team.  The Jets used the bye week to do some very good things.  They corrected their mistakes and they have changed the look of their team a little.  They are more aggressive on defense.  Kellen Clemens at quarterback - he brings energy.  He's a little more mobile, which is coming in handy, especially last week when he made a couple of big plays running.  And, he can definitely throw it down the field more.  He doesn't have a great arm, but he has a strong enough arm that he can make all the throws. If you are playing defense you have to say this guy might throw it deep four or five times today so you have to be a little bit more careful...(On Dallas Cowboys): For the Dallas Cowboys, they're aggressive on both sides.  They coach them aggressively and they try to apply pressure with their defense.  Of course Terrell Owens and Tony Romo are having terrific years.  But their play calling is aggressive and it is always about keeping Tony Romo in rhythm, keeping him involved in the game.  Their offense revolves around their quarterback.  The quarterback's best friend in the NFL, besides the offensive line, is

the play caller and the sequence of plays. How you call them is the most important factor.  And right now, offensive coordinator Jason Garrett is also having a phenomenal year.  No matter how well they are running the football, they are going to keep throwing it.  That way, Tony Romo never goes more than a few minutes without throwing the football.  For a quarterback, that is important.  He [Romo] has taken advantage of his talent and the players around him, and of course the system.  And that is the reason the Cowboys are 9-1.
