CBS SPORTS BROADCASTS LOS ANGELES' NORTHERN TRUST OPEN WITH ONE OF PGA TOUR'S STRONGEST FIELDS THIS SEASON ON FEB. 16-17

 CBS Sports' winter golf coverage concludes this weekend with a return to the famed Riviera Country Club in the Los Angeles suburb of  Pacific Palisades, Calif. for live third and final-round coverage of the NORTHERN TRUST OPEN on Saturday, Feb. 16 (3:00-6:00 PM, ET) and Sunday, Feb. 17 (3:00-6:30 PM, ET), on the CBS Television Network.

 

Boasting one of the PGA TOUR's strongest fields so far this season, Charles Howell III looks to defend his title against 17 of the top-20 players in the Official World Golf Rankings including Phil Mickelson, who lost in a three-hole playoff with Howell here last year, Steve Stricker, Jim Furyk, Rory Sabbatini, K.J. Choi, Vijay Singh, Padraig Harrington, Sergio Garcia, Geoff Ogilvy, Aaron Baddeley, Lee Westwood, Luke Donald, Paul Casey, Retief Goosen, Arron Oberholser, Tim Clark, J.B. Holmes, Davis Love III, Fred Couples, John Daly, as well as Adam Scott and Justin Rose making their 2008 PGA TOUR season debuts after starting off on the European Tour's trek through Arabia.     

 

Jim Nantz, along with six-time major championship winner Nick Faldo, will provide commentary from the 18th hole tower, along with Peter Oosterhuis at the 17th hole, Gary McCord at the 16th hole, and Ian Baker-Finch at the 15th hole.  Peter Kostis and David Feherty will be on-course reporters.

After the Northern Trust Open, CBS Sports is ON THE ROAD TO THE FINAL FOUR with college basketball and the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship.  Golf coverage returns in early April when CBS Sports broadcasts the 2008 Mastersâ, the most prestigious competition in golf, for the 53rd consecutive year from Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Ga.   Coverage of the longest-running sports event ever presented on one network begins with highlight shows re-capping early-round action on Thursday, April 10 and Friday, April 11 (11:35-11:50 PM, ET).  Live coverage of the final two rounds of the Masters will be broadcast on Saturday, April 12 (3:30-7:00 PM, ET) and Sunday, April 13 (2:30-7:00 PM, ET).
