CBS SPORTS SPECTACULAR FEATURES "JIM NANTZ REMEMBERS AUGUSTA: THE 1978 MASTERS(R)" PRESENTED BY RBS ON SUNDAY, APRIL 13

CBS Sports will broadcast JIM NANTZ REMEMBERS AUGUSTA: THE 1978 MASTERS® Presented by RBS on Sunday, April 13 (1:30-2:30 PM, ET) on the CBS Television Network.   Jim Nantz, CBS Sports' host of the Masters, will look back at Gary Players' magical win in 1978 when, for the first time, the final round is re-broadcast on CBS Sports.

JIM NANTZ REMEMBERS AUGUSTA:  THE 1978 MASTERS looks back at one of the most exciting and improbable Masters finishes in its history.  The ever-popular Player, at the age of 42, won the 42nd Masters earning his third Green Jacket with a back-nine charge that had never been seen before on the grounds of Augusta National.  Thirty years later in an interview with Nantz, Player, who had finished his round with several pursuing golfers still out on the course, reveals what was going through his mind as he sat in Butler Cabin and watched each of them falter.

"We are thrilled to be re-broadcasting Gary Player's third and final Masters victory on it's 30 year anniversary," said Nantz.  "Plus, this year Gary will be competing in his 51st Masters Tournament - setting the all-time record. He is one of the true legends of the game and was the first international player to ever win the Green Jacket. The 1978 Masters was one of the most exciting golf events in history as Gary birdied the final hole to out-battle Hubert Green, Tom Watson and Rod Funseth. Watching it again all these years later brings back all of the riveting drama of that special day 30 springtimes ago. When we met with Gary a few months ago he had never seen the CBS broadcast. He was clearly moved.  In our interview he reflected on not only that important day in his career, but also a lifetime of memories. Gary Player was the perfect champion to salute this year for our REMEMBERS AUGUSTA series."
