SPORTS LEGENDS GOLF CLASSIC BENEFITING THE BONE MARROW FOUNDATION CELEBRATES ITS 15th YEAR

TO BE HONORED AT FLORIDA EVENT

  

            CBS Sports reporter Lesley Visser and Fox Sports Play-by-play announcer Dick Stockton are the 2008 honorees for the 15th Annual Sports Legends Golf Classic on May 4-5 in Delray Beach, Fla. Celebrating its 15th year, the Sports Legends Golf Classic has raised over 1.5 million dollars for the Bone Marrow Foundation

 

            Visser and Stockton join a distinguished list of honorees, including Jim Nantz, Billy Packer, Verne Lundquist, Dan Dierdorf, Pat Summerall, Sandy Koufax, Earl Weaver, Dean Smith, Scott Hamilton, Chris Evert and Andy Mill, Mike Ditka, Ken Venturi, Billy Cunningham, Chuck Daly and the 1972 Miami Dolphins to be honored at the event.

 

The yearly event raises funds for cancer patients with limited or no resources to cover the costs associated with a bone marrow or stem cell transplant. This year's list of scheduled attendees of coaches, broadcasters and athletes includes Lawrence Taylor, Al Leiter, Mike Schmidt, Scottie Pippen, Jerry Bailey, Rollie Massimino, Daly, Rick Pitino, Tom Penders, Jay Wright, Bill Raftery, Armen Keteyian, Jay Bilas, Gary Danielson, Randy Cross, Tim Brando and Jim Spanarkel.

 

            Bob Fishman, one of CBS Sports lead directors is the chairman of the Sports Legends Golf Classic and the President of the Bone Marrow Foundation. Fishman, a resident of Delray Beach, was the recipient of a bone marrow transplant for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in 1990.
