CBS SPORTS TO BROADCAST "AT&T NATIONAL" AT CONGRESSIONAL COUNTRY CLUB JULY 5-6

Tiger Woods' Event Featuring Defending Champion K.J. Choi

     

Tiger Woods hosts his PGA TOUR event this week in year two of the AT&T NATIONAL, however he will not be attending due to his recent season-ending surgery following his U.S. Open victory.  CBS Sports broadcasts third- and final-round coverage of the AT&T National from the famed Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Md., on Saturday, July 5 (3:00-6:00 PM, ET) and Sunday, July 6 (3:00-6:30 PM, ET), live on the CBS Television Network.

Jim Nantz and Nick Faldo, CBS Sports' golf anchor and lead analyst, respectively, provide commentary from the 18th hole tower.  Peter Oosterhuis calls the action at the 17th hole, Gary McCord at the 16th and Ian Baker-Finch at the 15th. David Feherty and Peter Kostis serve as on-course reporters.

The AT&T National includes an impressive field of the world's top-ranked players:   Choi, Jim Furyk, Steve Stricker, Trevor Immelman, Anthony Kim, Andres Romero, Aaron Baddeley,  Davis Love III, Fred Couples, Rocco Mediate, Tim Clark, Lucas Glover, Charles Howell III, Stuart Appleby, Rod Pampling, Arron Oberholser, Rich Beem, Paul Goydos, Ryuji Imada, Brandt Snedeker, Camilo Villegas, Ryan Moore, Jesper Parnevik, Tom Pernice, Jr., Shigeki Maruyama, Chris DiMarco, Mike Weir, Steve Elkington, Sean O'Hair, Corey Pavin, J.B. Holmes, Tim Herron and former University of Maryland coach Fred Funk.    Funk, a gallery favorite, played his first ever PGA TOUR event at Congressional in 1982.

The AT&T National will benefit the Tiger Woods Foundation and pay tribute to the men and women in the U.S. Armed Forces. Wounded soldiers from Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., and the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md., will be acknowledged by tournament officials this week. In addition, each day, beginning July 2, a branch of the military will be honored.

CBS SPORTS TEES UP "P&G BEAUTY NW ARKANSAS CHAMPIONSHIP" ON SATURDAY, JULY 5 AND SUNDAY, JULY 6

  

26 of Top 30 Players on 2008 LPGA Official Money List Set to Compete

 

The best women professional golfers from around the world, including 26 of the Top 30 on the 2008 Official Money List, 17 past major champions, as well as the top five rookies in the Rookie of the Year standings, compete over the Fourth of July weekend as CBS Sports broadcasts the P&G BEAUTY NW ARKANSAS CHAMPIONSHIP live from the Pinnacle Country Club in Rogers, Ark. on Saturday, July 5 (1:30-3:00 PM, ET) and Sunday, July 6 (1:00-3:00 PM, ET). 

 

Among those competing for a $1.7 million dollar purse at this second annual event stop on the LPGA Tour include crowd favorite "Pink Panther" Paula Creamer, who was absent last year at Pinnacle, and brings much anticipation and excitement from fans of all ages while she attempts to uphold her ranking as the world's fourth-best female golfer in the world; Morgan Pressel, another rising star on the LPGA Tour who became the youngest major champion in Tour history at the 2007 Kraft Nabisco Championship at age 18; Hall of Famer and seven-time major champion Juli Inkster, four-time major champions Meg Mallon and Laura Davies, as well as 2008 event winners rookie Louise Friberg, Leta Lindley and Seon Hwa Lee. 

  

CBS Sports' Bill Macatee and LPGA Hall of Famer Beth Daniel call the action from the 18th tower, while Bobby Clampett is stationed at the 17th hole, Mary Bryant at the 16th hole, Val Skinner and Billy Kratzert from the course.
