CBS SPORTS BROADCASTS SEASON'S FINAL MAJOR -- THE 90th PGA CHAMPIONSHIP FROM OAKLAND HILLS COUNTRY CLUB ON AUGUST 7-10

Late Night Highlights of First Two Rounds Broadcast on

                             Thursday, August 7 and Friday, August 8 on The CBS Television Network

 

The top-ranked players in the world will assemble next week for the 90th edition of the PGA Championship when the season's final major is contested for the third time at Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Hills, Mich., this August.  For the 18th consecutive year, CBS Sports will be on-hand to cover the next chapter in PGA Championship history.

 

CBS Sports' 2008 PGA Championship golf announce team is led by anchor Jim Nantz, along with lead analyst Nick Faldo,  reporting from the 18th hole.  Peter Oosterhuis describes the action at the 17th hole, Gary McCord at the 16th hole, Ian-Baker Finch at the 15th hole, Verne Lundquist at the 14th hole and Bill Macatee at the 13th hole.  David Feherty and Peter Kostis serve as on-course reporters.    

 

Lance Barrow, Coordinating Producer, Golf, will produce along with David WinnerJim Rikhoff serves as videotape producer. Steve Milton and Bob Matina will direct.  Harold Bryant is Vice President, Production, CBS Sports.  Rob Correa is Executive Vice President, Programming, CBS Sports.

 

CBS Sports' cameras will capture the action at all 18 holes of Oakland Hills Country Club with live coverage of the third and final rounds on Saturday, Aug. 9 and Sunday, Aug. 10 (2:00-7:00 PM, ET; both days). In addition, CBS Sports will broadcast highlights of early-round action with Nantz and Feherty immediately following the LATE SHOW WITH DAVID LETTERMAN on Thursday, Aug. 7 and Friday, Aug. 8 (12:35-1:05 AM, ET/PT; both nights).  Bob Mansbach will produce the highlight shows.  Chris Svendsen will direct.

 

Phil Mickelson, Padraig Harrington, Adam Scott, Ernie Els, Geoff Ogilvy, Sergio Garcia, Stewart Cink, Jim Furyk, Henrik Stenson, Justin Rose, K.J. Choi, Anthony Kim, Vijay Singh, Kenny Perry, Trevor Immelman, Lee Westwood, Rory Sabbatini and Miguel A. Jimenez are among the world's top-ranked players scheduled to compete at the 2008 PGA Championship. Tiger Woods will not be defending his title after season-ending surgery.  Last year, Woods won his fourth PGA Championship and 13th major title overall, tying the legendary Bobby Jones for major championship wins. 

 

The 2007 PGA Championship at Southern Hills Country Club was contested by the strongest field of any major championship with 97 of the top 100 world-ranked players. In addition, last year's Championship featured the largest international contingent in PGA Championship history with 64 international players representing an event-record 22 countries.  The international turnout was the most for any U.S. major championship and included the first player from mainland China, Wen Chong Liang.  Since 1991, the PGA Championship has led all other major championships with the most world-ranked players.
