"THE NFL ON CBS" REGIONAL ACTION SCORES HIGHEST RATING FOR OPENING WEEKEND SINCE 1999

THE NFL ON CBS's regional singleheader action on Sunday, Sept. 7 (1:00-4:15 PM, ET) scored its highest rating for an opening weekend since 1999.  Highlighted by Brett Favre and the New York Jets at Miami, Kansas City at New England, Houston at Pittsburgh, Cincinnati at Baltimore and Jacksonville at Tennessee, the day's coverage earned an average overnight household rating/share of  11.0/24, up +4% from last year's 10.6/23 and up +24% from an 8.9/20 in 2006.

U.S. OPEN WOMEN'S FINAL RATES AS HIGHEST SINCE 2002

 

CBS Sports' live coverage of the U.S. OPEN TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS Women's Final on Sunday, Sept. 7 (9:00-12:00 Midnight, ET), highlighted by Serena Williams' win over Jelena Jankovic, earned an average overnight household rating/share of 4.3/7, up +65% from last year's 2.6/5 (Saturday, Sept. 8; Justine Henin defeating Svetlana Kuznetsova).

 

This year's 4.3/7 was the highest rating for a women's final since 2002 when Serena Williams defeated her sister Venus Williams (7.2/13 on 9/7/02).

 

Last night's rating peaked at a 5.6/10 from 11:00-11:30 PM, ET, which was the end of the second set when Serena won the match.  Following is a ratings breakdown of the match by half hours:
