Fans Will Have Access to More Tournament Coverage Than Ever Before

  

CBS Sports, CBS College Sports Network the NCAA are partnering with over 20 video distribution partners for the second consecutive year to deliver NCAA VOD: THE BEST OF MARCH MADNESS®, a high definition, Video-On-Demand program dedicated to the 2009 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship. 

 

CBS Sports and CBS College Sports Network will produce over 50 packages including customized highlights of all games from the NCAA Sweet 16® through the Championship Game on Monday, April 6. Plus the Official NCAA Tournament Highlight Show from the first and second rounds beginning on Thursday, March 19, and historical NCAA March Madness vignettes that will all be available for free to Video-On-Demand subscribers nationwide.

 

Comcast, DIRECTV, Verizon FiOSCharter, Atlantic Broadband, Armstrong Utilities, Bend Broadband, Bresnan Communications, Insight, Mediacom, Midcontinent Communications, Suddenlink Communications, Sky Angel, Wave Broadband, Astound Broadband, Sunflower Broadband, Click!, Blue Ridge, Pioneer Long Distance, San Bruno and Service Electric have signed on to be a part of this exclusive NCAA March Madness programming offer.

The comprehensive content will be available in high definition and standard definition, and distributed via TVN Entertainment through participating MSO's VOD platforms. TVN, will be distributing the NCAA March Madness Highlights within hours of each game's original airing using its TVNow fast turnaround service.  CBS Sports and CBS College Sports Network will use TVN's asset delivery and management platform, ADONISS 2, and its PRI web-based metadata management toolset. This Emmy-nominated system is the most efficient content delivery solution available and allows users to actively track content, view menu structures, and change metadata both pre-pitch and post-pitch.

 

 

The VOD programming includes NCAA March Madness Highlights, a daily recap of each day's action from the first and second rounds featuring extensive highlights along with selected post-game interviews and team press conferences.  Individual game highlights will be made available, giving fans immediate access to games from the Sweet 16 through the Championship Game with the ability to search for specific games.   

  

            The VOD content also features unique and fully-produced NCAA March Madness Memories that are available in high definition and standard definition, featuring 35 of the greatest memories in tournament history, pulled from archived NCAA game and related footage.  NCAA March Madness Memories, available to customers beginning in early March, includes profiles of student-athletes and coaches along with classic games. These include championship games between Villanova and Georgetown (1985), North Carolina St. and Houston (1983), North Carolina and Georgetown (1982) and Indiana and Syracuse (1987), as well as the double overtime national semifinal between North Carolina St. and UCLA in 1974, the 1992 regional final between Duke and Kentucky, and first-round classics between Valparaiso and Mississippi (1998), and Northwestern St. and Iowa (2006).

 

            NCAA VOD: THE BEST OF MARCH MADNESS also will include a fully-produced recap program of the 2009 Tournament, as well as one from last year's tournament.  The recap programs will include game footage, post-game interviews and press conferences.
