  The next day on Jan. 15, CBS Sports’ Ray Scott and Jack Whitaker welcomed viewers of the CBS Television Network to “this first meeting ever between the American Football League and National Football League,” in what would become known as Super Bowl I.

SCOTT: I’m Ray Scott.  With me is Jack Whitaker. With Frank Gifford and Pat Summerall, we’ll be telling you the story of this first meeting ever between the American Football League and the National Football League. Jack, so much has been written and said about this game, very little remains.

WHITAKER: I guess there’s been as much written about this game, Ray, as there has been about the Civil War. And, in a way, this is the end of a civil war—a civil war in American professional football this afternoon. There’s never been a game quite like it, and both clubs have every reason in the world to be emotionally up.

            On Sunday, Feb. 7, 2016 (6:30 PM, ET, kick-off), Jim Nantz and Phil Simms will set the scene to call the Golden Celebration of Super Bowl Sunday with SUPER BOWL 50 live from Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif.  Super Bowl 50 will mark the Network’s 19th Super Bowl broadcast overall, the most of any network.
