BANFF WORLD TELEVISION FESTIVAL TO HONOUR CBS TELEVISION WITH 2006 OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

Toronto, Ontario (CANADA) – April 26, 2006 – Continuing to recognize television’s top performers and pioneers, Banff World Television Festival has announced CBS Television as recipient of its 2006 Outstanding Achievement Award. Selected by the BANFF Board of Directors, CBS is being honoured for its groundbreaking programming, consistently solid ratings and overall contribution to the television industry. Armando Nuñez, Jr., President of CBS Paramount International Television will attend BANFF to accept the award for CBS.

“I am pleased to accept the award on behalf of Leslie Moonves and the entire team at CBS,” said Nuñez, Jr. “This honor reinforces the high regard to which the international community holds for CBS’s legacy of high quality and successful programming.”

Known as America's most watched television network, CBS was established in 1928, when founder William Paley purchased 16 independent radio stations and christened them the Columbia Broadcast System. Today, with more than 200 television stations and affiliates reaching virtually every home in the United States, CBS is the number one-rated network with a primetime line-up that has been watched by more than 233 million people so far this season. The Network has the number one scripted show on television, “CSI”; Friday’s number one scripted program, “NUMB3RS”; number one newsmagazine, “60 Minutes”; number one daytime drama, “The Young and the Restless”; and is home to five of the top ten shows on network television this season.
