Michael Lohan: "I want the best for Lindsay...It's so important that I set an example for my children because I see what's happened."

Lohan, who was released from an upstate New York prison after serving two years for assault and DUI, called Lindsay immediately after hearing about her latest run-in the with paparazzi Monday night, leaving her a message.

Michael Lohan: "I'm just watching what's happening all around her. So imagine what's going on in her life."

Lohan tells INSIDE EDITION he thinks the claims that his daughter brings all this media attention onto herself by going out to all the popular clubs are unfounded.

Michael Lohan: "That is kind of unfair...Isn't she allowed to go to the popular clubs and be where her friends are?"

Lohan also tells INSIDE EDITION he is proud of Lindsay's decision to enter rehab.

Michael Lohan: "I believe that maybe drinking did become a problem in her life and she was addressing it."

Lohan, who went to Bible College and became a minister while incarcerated, tells INSIDE EDITION he is overjoyed to finally be out.

Michael Lohan: "I mean, how do you describe freedom. I found a lot of solace driving home just looking at the sky."
