WALT DeHAVEN NAMED VICE PRESIDENT AND GENERAL MANAGER OF KCNC-TV DENVER

Former Chicago Station Executive Will Now Oversee Electronic Media's "Station of the Year"

Walt DeHaven has been named Vice President and General Manager of KCNC-TV Denver, it was announced today by Fred Reynolds, President of the Viacom Television Stations Group, and Dennis Swanson, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. DeHaven, most recently Vice President and General Manager of WBBM-TV Chicago, will oversee all operations at KCNC and will report to Swanson.

At KCNC, DeHaven replaces Marv Rockford, who has stepped down. DeHaven is being succeeded at WBBM-TV by Chicago market veteran Joe Ahern.

"Walt has brought an unquestioned sense of energy and enthusiasm to WBBM-TV," said Reynolds. "Under his leadership, WBBM-TV has experienced good momentum and growth. Walt's hiring of 'Good Morning America's' Antonio Mora as the station's principal news anchor has built ratings in our key news broadcasts, and he has otherwise laid a very strong foundation for us to build on in Chicago. I'm confident he will have even more success in Denver, which is a very important market for us."

Commented Swanson: "Under Marv's leadership, KCNC won six Edward R. Murrow awards for its news coverage, and earlier this year it was named Electronic Media's 'Station of the Year.' KCNC is well positioned for future growth, and Fred and I thank Marv for all his contributions. We wish him the best in his future endeavors."

DeHaven was named Vice President and General Manager of WBBM-TV in August 2000. Previously, he was executive vice president of both WSBK-TV Boston and WLWC-TV Providence, R.I. when they were operated under the Paramount Television umbrella (they have since become part of the Viacom Television Stations Group). DeHaven also oversaw management operations for all Paramount stations in the Northeast during that time.

Prior to that, DeHaven was executive vice president and general manager of WPSG-TV Philadelphia (1995-98). He also served as vice president and general manager of KTXA-TV Dallas (1991-92) and at KRRT-TV San Antonio, Texas.

DeHaven began his career at WPMT-TV in Harrisburg, Pa. where he worked in the sales department.
