Julie McNamara, Executive Vice President, Drama Development, Broadcast & Cable Programming, CBS Television Studios

 

Julie McNamara was named Executive Vice President, Drama Development for Broadcast and Cable Programming, CBS Television Studios in June 2012.

 

In her position, McNamara spearheads the development for all primetime drama series for broadcast television.   

 

McNamara shepherded the development of “Elementary,” starring Jonny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu, “Beauty and the Beast,” starring Kristin Kreuk and Jay Ryan and “Reign,” starring Adelaide Kane, Toby Regbo and Torrance Coombs for The CW.  Additionally, McNamara has developed multiple successful CBS dramas including “Hawaii Five-0,” “Blue Bloods,”  “NCIS: Los Angeles,” and Peabody Award-winning series “The Good Wife,” starring multiple award-winner Julianna Margulies.

 

Prior to CBS Television Studios, McNamara served as Vice President, Drama Development for ABC, where she developed "Alias," "Desperate Housewives" and "Grey’s Anatomy." 

 

She joined ABC in 1997 as an assistant in the drama series department.  She rose through the ranks in drama development; she was named Manager in 1998, Director in 1999, Executive Director in 2000 and was promoted to Vice President in 2002.  Prior, she served for three years as assistant to the president of The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center in New York.
