CBS.com Remains Number One Network Web Site, Posting Double Digit Growth in Unique Viewers, Videos and Minutes during Season Premieres Month  

CBSSports.com Experiences Triple Digit Growth Across the Board  

TV.com Posts Tenth Consecutive Month of Year over Year Growth in Unique Viewers, Video Streams and Minutes

  

            SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 28 - CBS Interactive today reported it jumped three spots to become the fourth largest property in terms of Unique Video Viewers according to comScore VideoMetrix (Sept. 2009).  CBS Interactive posted significant year-over-year growth in unique viewers (217%), video streams (197%) and minutes (304%), as well as month-over-month gains in unique viewers (17%), video streams (27%) and minutes (21%).  

 

            The year-over-year growth was driven by increases from leading brands CBS.com, TV.com, CBSNews.com, CBSSports.com, CBS College Sports, CNET, GameSpot, and Last.fm as users turned to its leading properties for information and entertainment across popular categories including news, entertainment, sports, technology, games, and music.

           Following are CBS Interactive highlights:

 

•·        During season premier's month, CBS.com continued to show yearly growth with increases in unique viewers (249%), video streams (207%), and minutes (273%). CBS.com also saw monthly double-digit gains in all three metrics: unique viewers (33%), videos (36%) and minutes (36%). CBS.com leads the broadcast networks in unique viewers, making CBS the number one network both on air and online.

 

 

•·        TV.com, the place where television lives online, reported its tenth consecutive month of year-over-year growth with quadruple digit gains in unique viewers (3763%), video streams (4341%) and minutes (6031%). 

•·        CBSNews.com continues to have ongoing success following its redesign in June and the addition of new original online shows such as @KATIECOURIC, WASHINGTON UNPLUGGED, and THE TOMORROW SHOW.  The site showed strong year-over-year growth in unique viewers (97%), video streams (170%) and minutes (92%).

•·        CBSSports.com reported strong month-over-month growth in unique viewers (158%), video streams (450%), and minutes (458%), while CBS College Sports also showed monthly growth in unique viewers (120%), and videos streamed (95%). Growth, in part, was driven by the return of fantasy football and the start of the NFL and college seasons.

•·        CNET saw impressive year-over-year growth in unique viewers (162%), video streams (104%), and minutes (78%), as consumer continue to turn to the leading technology reviews site for information on the latest and greatest tech and consumer electronic products.

•·        GameSpot reported year-over-year growth in unique viewers (461%), video streams (205%) and minutes (794%) as the site continued to add more original content such as the new gaming show TODAY ON THE SPOT.

•·        Last.fm reported year-over-year growth in unique viewers (80%), video streams (270%) and minutes (139%).
