Lance Armstrong To Publish First-person Photo-journal of His Comeback 2009 Season with Touchstone
(New York, New York, July 1, 2009) Lance Armstrong, seven-time Tour de France winner and New York Times bestselling author, has signed with the Touchstone division of Simon and Schuster to write Comeback 2.0: Up Close and Personal, a first-person journal account of his 2009 comeback season starting with his return to competitive cycling in Australia's Tour Down Under and culminating with his attempt to win an 8th Tour de France. Touchstone Fireside Vice President, Publisher Stacy Creamer, Armstrong's longtime editor, acquired North American rights from Richard Pine at InkWell Management. The book will be published on December 1, 2009.
Comeback 2.0 will feature not only stunning and dramatic photos of Lance in competition, it will offer a behind-the-scenes look at his life, including his training, his shoulder injury, life with his children, campaigning for cancer research, meeting with cancer patients and survivors, drug testing, and the birth of his son Max.
Photographer Elizabeth Kreutz has been granted unprecedented access to Armstrong to deliver this intimate portrait of his life during a particularly remarkable season. Accompanying the photos will be journal entries by Lance detailing his journey every step of the way. The book is framed by an introduction in which he discusses his reasons for coming back to competitive cycling and competing once again in the Tour de France after a three-year retirement.
"Since the start of the comeback Liz has been with me every step of the way," commented Armstrong. "Her access to all things this season comes across in her amazing photography."
"Lance Armstrong is a constant inspiration to millions of cancer survivors and people dealing with cancer," said Creamer. "Comeback 2.0 will be a compelling visual and reading experience-one his many fans are sure to enjoy."
