ATRIA BOOKS SIGNS NEW NOVEL BY NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING AUTHOR JAVIER SIERRA

(NEW YORK) -October 5, 2010. Judith Curr, Executive Vice President and Publisher of Atria Books and Washington Square Press, announced a deal today for international and New York Times bestselling author Javier Sierra's next novel, The Lost Angel, to be published in fall 2011. His last book, The Secret Supper, was an instant New York Times bestseller, an international sensation and was translated into 46 languages. Atria is the first publisher in the world to acquire rights to this new novel.

Judith Curr said "We are proud to continue to be Javier Sierra's publisher. Javier has been researching The Lost Angel for years and what he discovered will certainly enchant many."

The Lost Angel bears the characteristic Sierra hallmarks, combining action and documentation, dazzling narrative feats and an invitation to reflect upon our physical existence on Earth and the connection every reader has with the Beyond.

Mixing fact and fiction, The Lost Angel follows the story of a mysterious pair of stones from the sixteenth century that are said to have served as sacred objects used for communicating with angels. These stones were given as a wedding gift to a famous American climatologist and his wife who was born with a rare psychic gift that allows her to awaken the stones' magical powers. A religious group in the Middle East will stop at nothing to get their hands on these objects-even if it means running from the CIA, the President of the United States and putting their lives on the line.

Atria VP  and Senior editor, Johanna Castillo acquired North American rights and US Spanish rights. Castillo said, "To all of Javier Sierra's fans around the world, I can say ‘It was worth the wait-Sierra has written a spectacular, un-put-down-able novel." Rights were acquired from Tom Colchie and Antonia Kerrigan.
