PETER CRISS LEGENDARY FOUNDING MEMBER OF KISS TO BE PUBLISHED BY SCRIBNER

NEW YORK, February 1, 2011-Scribner has acquired world, electronic, and audio rights to publish MAKEUP TO BREAKUP, the life story of legendary KISS founding member, drummer, and vocalist Peter Criss. The announcement was made today by Susan Moldow, Executive Vice President and Publisher of Scribner. Brant Rumble, Senior Editor of Scribner concluded the deal with literary agent Michael Harriot of Sanford J. Greenburger Associates for the book he will edit, scheduled for publication in fall 2012.

To be written with famed collaborator Larry "Ratso" Sloman, MAKEUP TO BREAKUP will relate Criss's remarkable life, and through it, the mega rock star's fascinating journey in KISS. It's about a Brooklyn kid who conquered the world, composing and singing the band's biggest hit "Beth," and faced the perils of excess and his own mortality, including his battle with breast cancer.  With the help of his unshakeable faith, he emerged from it all with a newfound peace.  From sex, drugs, and rock ‘n roll to multiple brushes with death, MAKEUP TO BREAKUP will be Peter Criss's unvarnished and eye-opening life story.

"I am so blessed that I am finally going to write my autobiography, and I hope you enjoy the ride," said Criss.  "The best of all is I get to share my true feelings of my love for God, family, friends and fame.  It's been a wonderful life."

"I'm thrilled to be working with a rock icon like Peter Criss," said Sloman.  "He's had the most amazing Horatio Algerish rags-to-riches life-not once, but twice!"

"Growing up, my first trips to the record store were focused exclusively on KISS," Senior Editor Brant Rumble said, "so it's a genuine thrill to be publishing the man who contributed so much to those albums."
