Florence + the Machine, England’s newest breakout band and recent Grammy nominee, will perform a LIVE ON LETTERMAN webcast concert Thursday, Dec. 16, (8:00 PM, ET/5:00 PM, PT), following the taping of their appearance on the LATE SHOW with DAVID LETTERMAN, which will be broadcast later that evening (11:35 PM-12:37 AM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.  LIVE ON LETTERMAN and CBS Interactive Music Group webcasts are broadcast worldwide at http://www.cbs.com/late_night/liveonletterman/.

Taylor Swift is a four-time GRAMMY winner, the top-selling digital artist in music history, has had singles top both the Country and Pop radio charts, and had the #1 best-selling album in any genre of music in 2009.  Her most recent album, Speak Now, sold over a million copies in its debut week, making it the biggest debuting country studio album in history.  Speak Now charted an unprecedented 11 songs in a single week on the Billboard Hot 100.

Taylor, who writes all of her own songs, became the youngest artist in history to win the GRAMMY Award for Album of the Year and the CMA Award for Entertainer of the Year.  She was also named Artist of the Year at the 2009 American Music Awards.   Taylor currently holds the Billboard all-genre records for most first-week downloads by a female artist, for the longest charting album of this century and for most Top 20 debuts in a calendar year, as well as the Billboard record for the largest overall airplay audience for a country-based act. Taylor plans to tour in support of Speak Now, and is currently slated to play 87 shows in 19 countries in 2011.

Florence Welch, the driving force behind Florence + the Machine, grew up in Camberwell, South London, surrounded by music of every genre, and got her start singing in clubs and pubs.  Florence’s honest, heartfelt debut album, Lungs, which is full of Gothic imagery, fairytale flights of fancy, love, pain and a cavalcade of instruments, was released in the summer of 2009 and has gained popularity ever since.  Her soaring, epic vocals, quirky melodies and self-contained musical world have already won Florence + the Machine the 2009 Critics Choice Award at the Brits and earned the band a GRAMMY Nomination for Best New Artist.

Live, Florence + the Machine becomes an entirely different beast and no two performances are ever alike.  Florence, along with the Machine – a flexible entity which can go right down to Florence and a drum kit or a piano, but is currently a seven-piece band – go at it like a band possessed.
