In an exclusive interview, Anchor Harry Smith talks with Virginia O'Hanlon, the animated star of the CBS holiday special, "Yes, Virginia," when she visits CBS News' "THE EARLY SHOW," Friday, Dec. 17 (7:00-9:00 AM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Virginia (voiced by actress Beatrice Miller, "Toy Story 3," during the segment and the special) will talk to Smith about the return of the holiday special on CBS later that evening, as well as her role in this year's Macy's "Believe" campaign.  During the segment, she will mail a letter to Santa in a special Macy's "Believe" mailbox located on stage.  Macy's "Believe" campaign, inspired by the New York Sun's famous "Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus" editorial from 1897, features letter-writing "Believe Stations" in Macy's stores across the country, with Macy's making a $1 donation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation® for each letter deposited in Macy's Santa Mail box, up to $1 million.

"Yes, Virginia," which will be broadcast Friday, Dec. 17 (8:00-8:30 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, is based on the true story of Virginia O'Hanlon, an 8-year-old girl living in New York City in the late 1800s, whose letter to the editor of the New York Sun in 1897 inspired the most famous newspaper editorial of all time by asking, "Is there a Santa Claus?"  The new holiday classic features the vocals talents of Miller as Virginia, Neil Patrick Harris ("How I Met Your Mother"), Jennifer Love Hewitt ("Ghost Whisperer") and Alfred Molina ("Spider-Man 2").  "Yes, Virginia" was created and produced by Macy's and JWT in conjunction with The Ebeling Group and MEC Entertainment, a division of Mediaedge:  cia.

THE EARLY SHOW is broadcast weekdays (7:00-9:00 AM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.  David Friedman is the executive producer.
