CBS CONTINUES TO RULE SCRIPTED PROGRAMMING

Nine of the Top 10 Dramas This Season

Seven of the Top 8 Comedies

CBS Series Comprise 80% of the Top 20 Scripted Programs

CBS Wins Seventh Consecutive Week in Viewers with Primarily Rebroadcasts

           With nine of the top 10 dramas this season and seven of the top eight comedies, CBS continues to rule scripted programming with the Network's programs comprising 80% of the top 20 scripted series (16 of the top 20), according to Nielsen most current ratings through Week 31 (9/19/11-4/22/12).

For the week, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings, NCIS was the #1 program in viewers for the eighth time this season. Every first-run episode of NCIS was that week's top drama.  TWO AND A HALF MEN was the week's top comedy. 

A rebroadcast of NCIS: LOS ANGELES beat all first-run scripted programming on the competition except "Castle."  A rebroadcast of THE BIG BANG THEORY beat all first-run comedies on the competition except "Modern Family."

For the week in viewers:  CBS (8.20m), ABC (7.69m), FOX (6.92m) and NBC (5.21m).   Season-to-date:  CBS (11.85m), FOX (8.92m), ABC (8.30m) and NBC (7.51m).

For the week in key demographics, CBS was tied for second in adults 25-54 (2.5/06, with ABC) and averaged 1.8/05 in adults 18-49.  Season-to-date, CBS is first in adults 25-54 (4.0/10) and second in adults 18-49 (3.0/08, -0.2 behind FOX).  Season-to-date, CBS is up +4% in households, +1% in viewers and +3% in both adults 25-54 and adults 18-49 compared to last year. 

For the week in households:  CBS (5.2/09), ABC (5.0/08), FOX (4.2/07) and NBC (3.3/06). Season-to-date:  CBS (7.4/12), ABC and FOX (5.3/09, each) and NBC (4.6/08).  

 

CBS Weekly Highlights:

HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER (4.5/07, 7.24m) was tied for first in adults 18-34 (2.7/09, with NBC), second in adults 18-49 (3.1/09) and tied for second in adults 25-54 (3.6/10, with ABC).    

TWO AND A HALF MEN was first in adults 25-54 (4.9/11) and second in households (6.8/10), viewers (11.22m) and adults 18-49 (3.8/10, -0.1 behind NBC).  Compared to last week, TWO AND A HALF MEN was up +5% in households (from 6.5/08), +9% in adults 25-54 (from 4.5/10), +6% in adults 18-49 (from 3.6/09) and added +820,000 viewers (from 10.40m, +8%). TWO AND A HALF MEN was Monday's #1 program in both adults 25-54 and adults 18-49. 

NCIS was first in households (11.2/18), viewers (18.08m), adults 25-54 (4.6/13) and adults 18-49 (3.1/09).  Compared to last week, NCISwas up +2% in households (from 11.0/18), even in both adults 25-54 and adults 18-49 and added +420,000 viewers (from 17.66m, +2%).  NCIS was the week's #1 program in households, viewers and adults 25-54 and the top scripted series in adults 18-49.

60 MINUTES was first in households (8.3/14), viewers (12.96m), adults 25-54 (2.9/08) and adults 18-49 (1.8/05).  60 MINUTES posted its largest audience since Feb. 12, 2012. 

THE AMAZING RACE 20 was first in viewers (9.14m), tied for first in households (5.5/09, with NBC) and second in adults 25-54 (3.5/08) and adults 18-49 (2.6/07).  Compared to last week, THE AMAZING RACE 20 was up +3% in adults 25-54 (from 3.4/08), even in both households and adults 18-49 and added +20,000 viewers (from 9.12m).    

THE GOOD WIFE was first in households (6.8/10), viewers (10.42m), adults 25-54 (2.7/06) and tied for first in adults 18-49 (1.9/05, with NBC).  Compared to last week, THE GOOD WIFE was up +3% in households (from 6.6/10), +4% in adults 25-54 (from 2.6/06), +6% in adults 18-49 (from 1.8/04) and added +260,000 viewers (from 10.16m, +3%).
