CBS'S "THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL" CELEBRATES FIVE YEARS OF SIMULCASTING IN SPANISH VIA SECONDARY AUDIO PROGRAM (SAP) TECHNOLOGY ON THE CBS TELEVISION NETWORK

B&B Remains the Only Daytime Drama to Simulcast in Spanish

CBS's THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL celebrates five years of being the only daytime drama to simulcast in Spanish via SAP (Secondary Audio Program) technology on the CBS Television Network. The network began the simulcast on May 28, 2001.

Since that time, more than 1,250 episodes of the series have been broadcast using this technology which allows viewers to switch their audio feed between English and Spanish. The Spanish feed of the series is dubbed by a second cast of Latino actors who do the voiceovers for each of the characters. The simultaneous Spanish audio feed is available to more than 40 owned or affiliated CBS stations that have the SAP technology, including affiliates in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Boston, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., Miami, Houston and Dallas.

THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL has added several Latino actors to its cast over the last few years, incorporating them into pivotal storylines alongside the original cast members. Lorenzo Lamas plays Hector Ramirez, a Los Angeles firefighter, while Antonio Sabáto, Jr. plays Dante Damiano, an artist at Forrester Creations. Most recently, Mario Lopez joined the cast as Dr. Christian Ramirez, the younger brother of Lamas' character.

During January and February 2006, compared to the same period a year ago, THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL increased its delivery of Hispanic Women 18+, Hispanic Women 18-49 and doubled its Hispanic Women 25-54 performance.* This audience gain is complemented by an overall effort by THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL to reach out to the Latino audience through stories, characters and actors as well as continuing the SAP feed.

"We are extraordinarily proud of THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL'S Spanish simulcast," said Barbara Bloom, Senior Vice President of Daytime Programs, CBS. "With 19 years on the air, and five years broadcasting with the SAP technology, THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL is one of the most important reasons the CBS Daytime lineup has spent the past 17 years at Number One. Whichever language our fans watch the show in, they know they're going to see quality drama and a thrilling story, and it's the reason they keep tuning in, episode after episode, and year after year."

"The fact that THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL has been broadcasting in SAP for five years is a true testament to CBS and the commitment that they have to the Spanish speaking audience here in the United States," said Bradley P. Bell, Executive Producer and Head Writer of THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL. "It is the sentiment of everyone involved with our SAP

process, from our English speaking cast and crew to the talented group of Spanish speaking actors that we hire to dub each show, that it is an honor to reach the diversity of the television audience. We congratulate CBS for allowing The Bold and the Beautiful to be the pioneers within our genre and broadcasting our show in Spanish."

THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL is a Bell-Phillip Television production, broadcast weekdays (1:30-2:00 PM, ET; 12:30-1:00 PM, PT) on the CBS Television Network. The show, having taped more than 4,500 episodes and currently in its 20th year of production, is viewed daily by an estimated 35 million people in more than 130 countries.
