48 HOURS: “The Trials of Cal Harris” was Monday’s # 1 broadcast at 10:00 PM with viewers, according to preliminary Nielsen live plus same day ratings for June 9, 2014. 48 HOURS averaged 5.68 million viewers.

Monday’s broadcast featured Erin Moriarty and 48 HOURS’ report on wealthy businessman Cal Harris, who was twice convicted of murdering his wife and in both cases his convictions were overturned on appeal. Now, facing a third trial, Harris gave his first ever interview to 48 HOURS, which has been covering the case for seven years.

Harris’ estranged wife Michele disappeared without a trace on the night of Sept. 11, 2001. She has never been found, nor have police found a murder weapon. Prosecutors have argued Harris killed his soon-to-be ex-wife to protect his family’s wealth, while his defense team maintains police never looked close enough at other potential suspects, including some of the men in Michele’s life at the time.

“48 HOURS: The Trials of Cal Harris” is produced by Lisa Freed, Ruth Chenetz and Marc B. Goldbaum. Stephen A. McCain is the field producer. David Franklin, David A. Spungen and Atticus Brady are the editors. Al Briganti is the executive editor. Susan Zirinsky is the senior executive producer.
