CBS WINS PREMIERE WEEK IN VIEWERS, ADULTS 18-49 AND ADULTS 25-54

CBS Has the Top Five and Nine of the Week’s Top 10 Scripted Series, Led by #1 “NCIS”

CBS placed first in premiere week in viewers for the eighth consecutive season, first in adults 18-49 (tie) for the first time since 2010-2011, and first in adults 25-54 for the first time since 2011-2012, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the week ending Sept. 25.

CBS was up +2% in viewers from premiere week last year, the only network to grow its audience and the only network to maintain year ago adult 18-49 and adult 25-54 ratings.

For the week, CBS averaged 11.18 million viewers, the largest average audience for any network in premiere week in five years. CBS’s +2.44 million viewer advantage over the second place network is its largest since 2011.

All three of the Network’s freshman series had huge premieres, opening with more than 10 million viewers. KEVIN CAN WAIT (11.08m) was the #1 new comedy, BULL (15.56m) and MACGYVER (10.73m) were the top two new dramas, while NCIS was the week’s #1 scripted program.

Overall, CBS had the week’s top five scripted programs and nine of the top 10.

KEVIN CAN WAIT

  • KEVIN CAN WAIT (P) averaged 11.08m, 3.7/10 in adults 25-54 (3.7/10) and 2.6/09 in adults 18-49. Compared to the time period premiere of LIFE IN PIECES on the same night last year, KEVIN CAN WAIT was even in adults 18-49.

BULL

  • BULL (P) was first in viewers (15.56m) and averaged 3.4/10 in adults 25-54 (3.4/10) and 2.2/07 in adults 18-49, retaining 100% of its NCIS lead in both adults 25-54 and adults 18-49 and nearly 100% of NCIS's viewer delivery. Compared to last year's time period season premiere (season two of NCIS: NEW ORLEANS), BULL was up +26% in adults 25-54 (from 2.7/07), +29% in adults 18-49 (from 1.7/06) and added +2.94m viewers (from 12.62m, +23%). 

MACGYVER

  • MACGYVER (P) was first in viewers (10.73m), adults 25-54 (2.4/09) and adults 18-49 (1.7/08), the night's #1 program in these measures. This is CBS’s best viewer delivery for a premiere in this time period since the series premiere of “Ghost Whisperer” on Sept. 23, 2005, and best adults 25-54 and adults 18-49 ratings for a premiere since “Undercover Boss” on Nov. 12, 2012.
