Friday on “The Talk” multi-platinum singer songwriter Rachel Platten performs “Girls” as part of Women’s History Month. With her daughter [Violet] in the audience, she speaks about how her two girls inspire her. Platten shares, “My girls are my biggest inspiration. You know, as every parent knows, it’s incredibly rewarding and also incredibly difficult. But I think the most amazing thing I’ve learned from them is watching them feel this huge range of feelings, and know that that’s the human experience, and helping them learn that all of that is okay. And in learning that, I’m relearning it for myself. And when I was writing my record, I realized hadn’t yet written a song to my daughters. And so I wanted to communicate to them all the things that I might want them to know in the world growing up, so that’s where ‘Girls’ came from.” She goes on to joke, “You know, it’s funny, they haven’t seen me much, this is Violet’s second time seeing me. But I watch them all the time. Like last night, they had a ‘Frozen’ musical performance in our living room, and I was not allowed to join, and that’s incredibly hard. They were like, ‘Ugh, Mom.’”
