Coverage to Include Live Streaming of Press Conferences, User-Directed Cameramen, Breaking News, Interviews with Games Industry Icons from the GameSpot Booth and More

Major League Gaming and GameSpot to Bring eSports Competition to E3, Broadcast Live in HD from the GameSpot Booth

SAN FRANCISCO, May 29, 2012 – Beginning Monday, June 4, GameSpot will kick off its non-stop coverage of E3 2012, the world’s premier trade show for the gaming industry. Broadcasting live from three stages at the GameSpot booth (Booth 4500, West Hall), GameSpot will deliver more than 100 hours of live video coverage including live streaming video of the Microsoft, EA, Ubisoft, Sony and Nintendo press conferences, continuous coverage of the latest game announcements, plus news and interviews with games industry icons. E3 2012 takes place June 5-7 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

“This year, GameSpot is pulling out all the stops to bring more live streaming coverage of E3 2012 than ever before, making sure that our fellow gamers at home don’t miss out on any of the action,” said John Davison, Vice President, Programming, GameSpot.  “For the first time, we’ll be broadcasting simultaneously from three stages at the GameSpot booth, including bringing eSports competition to the conference in partnership with Major League Gaming.”

The GameSpot Main Stage, hosted by Editor Chris Watters, will be packed with product demos, live gameplay, interviews and news updates from the show floor.  The Bonus Stage will feature chats and interviews featuring guests from all aspects of E3 culture, including celebrities, developers, pro gamers, and industry experts. GameSpot’s third stage will host Major League Gaming’s competitive expo matches, broadcast live in HD beginning June 5 at 1: 00 PM, PT. Hosted by MLG personality Clutch (Joshua Gray), the competition will feature different players, personalities and games each day including StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, Mortal Kombat and Call of Duty: Black Ops. Coverage of this year’s E3 will be more accessible than ever, with video streamed across the GameSpot Video Network, as well as live streaming partners and YouTube. Fans will also be able to embed live streaming footage directly onto Facebook, Twitter and personal blogs, and all E3 coverage will be available on GameSpot’s recently relaunched mobile website.

GameSpot is also turning to its audience to help shape its video content. Fans at home will be able to email to direct two cameramen towards the most popular destinations on the show floor and have them pose questions to all the people they run into throughout the day – from booth staff to celebrities to games industry executives.
