Just In Time for Fall, CHOW Reveals its Roundup of Slow Cookers

SAN FRANCISCO Oct. 2, 2013 – Cooking the perfect dish at home requires quality ingredients, lots of patience, and of course, the right equipment.  To help the everyday home cook find the best tools for the kitchen, CHOW, the online home for food enthusiasts, today introduced a new section, Product Reviews.  

Comprehensive product reviews include extensive testing in the CHOW Test Kitchen by editors and culinary-trained cooks, a video, a summary of the good, bad, and the bottom line, as well as ratings provided by CHOW editors and users.  The new section is available at

“Limited counter space means today’s home cooks need the best kitchen products for their needs,” said Tracy Kaplan, Director of Content and Product at CHOW.  “We decided to share our team’s expertise and unbiased perspective on which gadgets, unitaskers and workhorses are worth having in your kitchen.”

CHOW kicked off its Product Reviews by comparing slow cookers from Cuisinart, Crockpot and Hamilton Beach.  To see which ones were deemed best, check out the reviews here:

Product reviews will cover a diverse range of kitchen products including knives, cookware (woks and frying pans), small appliances (ice cream and sorbet makers and coffee makers), blenders, slow cookers, bakeware, and tools and gadgets (apple peelers, digital thermometers and digital scales).   

Each product review is based on a number of factors including new releases, market trends, buzz from the Chowhound online community and input from the CHOW team.  Every product will be rated by an easy to understand five-star ranking system which provides a general score based on a product’s design and construction, its overall performance, and its value.  For more details on CHOW Product Reviews, visit
