Inaugural “Never Forget Tribute Classic” and Third Annual “CBS Sports Classic” To Be Broadcast on December 10 from New Jersey and December 17 from Las Vegas, Respectively


            NEW YORK, NY, December 9, 2016CBS Sports Radio is the exclusive national radio broadcaster of two college basketball doubleheaders later this month. Tipping off the schedule is the Never Forget Tribute Classic on Saturday, December 10 from the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. beginning at 11:45AM, ET. Next up is the CBS Sports Classic on Saturday, December 17 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas beginning at 2:45PM, ET. All games will be broadcast live on CBS Sports Radio, a 24/7 sports property programmed by CBS RADIO.

            The inaugural Never Forget Tribute Classic features defending national champion and current #1 ranked team, according to the latest Associated Press (AP) Top 25 poll, Villanova, battling it out against  Notre Dame. This is followed by a fierce match-up between Pittsburgh and Penn State. Returning as the play-by-play announcer is Gary Cohen, the current play-by-play announcer for the NY Mets, Seton Hall men’s basketball and Westwood One’s NCAA men’s basketball coverage.  He will be joined by former NBA player Kelly Tripucka to provide game analysis. The event has partnered with the Families of Freedom Scholarship Fund, which helps support the education of children of the victims of the September 11 terrorist attacks.


            In its third year, the CBS Sports Classic features three of the current AP Top 25 teams in two powerhouse games with Ohio State vs. UCLA, followed by Kentucky vs. North Carolina. John Sadak, current play-by-play announcer for Westwood One’s NCAA basketball coverage, will provide play-by-play for both games. Steve Lappas, former Manhattan, Villanova and UMass coach, joins Sadak as game analyst.


            CBS Television Network will broadcast the Villanova vs. Notre Dame game on December 10 beginning at 12Noon, ET.  CBS Sports Network will televise the Pittsburgh vs. Penn State match-up in the second game of the Never Forget Tribute Classic doubleheader beginning at 2:30PM, ET.  Both games of the CBS Sports Classic will be broadcast on the CBS Television Network on December 17.  Fans can listen to the games on their local CBS Sports Radio affiliate or at Check local listings for the CBS Sports Radio broadcast in your area.
