CBS RADIO STATION AND PERSONALITY HONORED WITH TWO MAJOR NAB MARCONI AWARDS, LEGENDARY STATION AND LARGE MARKET PERSONALITY
NEW YORK, NY, September 7, 2017 -- CBS RADIO’s WCBS-AM/New York and the late Linda Lee, an on-air personality on country station WYCD-FM/Detroit, were awarded the two highest National Association of Broadcasters’ Marconi Awards this evening. The Awards were bestowed at the annual awards show during the Radio Advertising Bureau’s Radio Show in Austin, TX. The Marconi Award is the radio industry’s most prestigious honor.
WCBS-AM/New York won Legendary Station of the Year, an award a CBS RADIO station has won for five consecutive years (2013-2017). The NAB also posthumously awarded Linda Lee its Large Market Personality of the Year Award, following a recent Academy of Country Music Award and an induction into the Country Radio Hall of Fame.
“Year after year, CBS RADIO stations and personalities across the U.S. are celebrated for the great services they provide in entertaining and informing local listeners,” said Andre Fernandez, President & CEO, CBS RADIO. “We are grateful to the NAB for recognizing WCBS-AM and Linda Lee, and congratulate all of our fellow honorees.”
Established in 1989 and named after inventor and Nobel Prize winner Guglielmo Marconi, the NAB Marconi Radio Awards honor radio stations and on-air personalities for excellence in broadcasting.
